We encourage you to join our guild!

If you would like to become a member of the Scottsville Art Guild, please contact us! (Annual dues are only $10.) We invite you to stop by the Allen County Public Library during one of our monthly meetings. (First Tuesday of the month, at 1pm...downstairs.) We'd love to see examples of your work.

February's Featured Artist: Janet Elliott
Janet Elliott is one of the guild's newest members. She began painting in 2010, after receiving a set of oil paints as a gift. "I loved watching Bob Ross and Jerry Yarnell, so when I received the oil painting kit, I started to paint."
Her favorite piece of artwork is of the sixth hole of the Country Club. "I painted people I did not know. I asked to take a picture of them, and they agreed. Other people have recognized the golfers in the painting."
Janet says her favorite medium so far is oil paint, "but I have never tried anything else."
"Painting can be very relaxing. I just lose time when painting, and I try to just enjoy the freedom of experimenting with paint."

January's Featured Artist: Katie Kelley
Katie Kelley has painted for over 20 years. She began "playing" with art in her early 40's. "I started with a few cheap oils and cheap brushes in the basement...what a mess!!"
Katie has been a strong member of the Scottsville Art Guild. She has served for many years in leadership positions, such as president, treasurer, and registrar for the Summer's End Art Exhibit. In addition, she shares her skills with others, as a "Bob Ross" instructor.
Her favorite medium is acrylic. "I like the smoothness and richness of oil as well, but the fast drying time and easy cleanup of acrylic is more enjoyable."   Working from her own personal photographs, Katie produces her most meaningful works. "My favorite is an oil painting of a waterfall on a black canvas taken on one of our vacations."
"I've come close to giving it up several times due to my busy schedule or other personal issues and felt that nothing I did was good enough. But I find that if I just give myself time to work through whatever the problem might be, loosen up, and don't think about winning competitions, I can actually enjoy throwing paint around and be surprised at what comes up."
